I've been busy storyboarding here in Melbourne. Very busy! And lazy when it comes to the blog. Here's a quick doodle done in photoshop a few months ago to
keep the other posts from getting lonely. No, this is not a picture of me either.
A Macross illustration commission. Its on a big piece of paper, so it has been scanned in two pieces, and is blurry. A different style than what I'm used to but I'm happy with the outcome. Good practice indeed. Was fun to research mech robots, as I was a fan as a teenager. Done in red col-erase pencil, black ink, prismacolor marker, and some water-colour. Completed in about a week in my spare time.
I've been working on this piece I had been working on in my spare time for the last month. It's been nice to work with paint on a canvas and not digitally. Done on a cheap store bought canvas in crappy acrylic paints with some black ink for good measure. Looking forward to making more New Dad budget art.
A quick walk cycle done in photoshop. I always liked the blobby effect of paint moving. I roughed out some line work in flash first to get my timing and spacing. He's wobbly but I like him.
Been a while. Here's some character that's been floating around in my brain for a while. He needs a name. He's basically Indiana Jones but grumpier. I think I'm more interested in the world he lives in though. Should probably do some work on that. Like a post apocalyptic Nepal.
I'm doing a 3 day juice cleanse, day 2, I feel weird. And my body hurts. Here's a page from my new portfolio i've been handing out. I like their details. A lot of tattoo art influence in these. It would be awesome to see them animated!
In my stress to get a new portfolio together, Don came about. The whole idea seems too generic and a little like Garfield to me, but hey its a start. Fun to draw through!
Here are some thumbs of a fox character I've been messing around with. Just practicing shots and trying to get some sort of momentum going. Working on Avengers Assemble at Atomic Cartoons in Vancouver was great for getting shot ideas. The board artists on it were SO good!! Learned a lot on that one for sure.
I've been trying to get a new "portfolio" together in my spare time. Some of what I've come up with so far. Not a lot of spare time with a new baby around either. Looking to start working again as my migration visa for Australia has finally gone through. Excited to see what Melbourne has to offer.
I've always wondered how to make an animated .gif file in photoshop. Now I know. This was a quick experiment. Jasmine is obsessed with cats. Gif's are fun, i shall make more!!!
A color study for a painting, I'm sure it will change once I start. Exploring the ideas of relationship, cooperation, healing, tension and energy movement. I scanned a pic of the 18''x36'' canvas and photoshopped over top.
I've moved to Melbourne and have a new son!! Meet Henry James Milne!! He's awesome. SO I'm just being a dad waiting for the work visa to go through. In my meantime, I've been sketching and dabbling in a couple paintings. Still trying to figure out the whole process.
